MEET THE FOUNDER & PRESIDENT,
RAMIZ JAMAL
Since 2010, Ramiz Jamal has been a top competitor across local, state, and national golf events. He’s won on the SCPGA Jr. Players Tour, SCPGA Toyota Tour Cup, JAGS Tour, JJGT, and Future Champions Tour, and was a fully exempt member of the AJGA. He was twice named to the JAGS Tour All Star Team and was a four-time JAGS Tour Scholar Athlete honoree.
A standout at Marina High School, Ramiz was the program’s first four-time First Team All Sunset League player, a key member of the 2015 CIF Championship team, a three-time Sunset League team champion, the 2013 Sunset League individual champion, and varsity MVP as a Freshman. He holds the school record for lowest career scoring average, earned match medalist honors more than 25 times, and was a three-time Scholar Athlete Award winner.
In 2014, Ramiz accepted a Division I scholarship to UC Irvine. Despite early setbacks with injuries that forced a redshirt season, he became the team captain, number one player in his redshirt junior season, and an All Big West Conference player. In 2016, he won the California State Fair Amateur, beating (now) 2x Major Champion Collin Morikawa by five strokes. In 2017–18 he helped UC Irvine win the Big West Championship and claimed the Will Jordan Classic on the amateur circuit. In 2019, he helped UCI win the Cal Poly Match Play Championship, earned Quarterfinalist Honors at the California Amateur, made the Dean’s List, and led the team in scoring and Top 10 finishes for the season.
After graduating from UC Irvine in March 2020 with a degree in International Studies in Business, Ramiz worked as a Subcontract Manager at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, contributing to contracts for Europa Clipper and Mars Perseverance. After winning two Voyager awards for his contributions to the laboratory, he pivoted into military/defense procurement at MOOG Inc.
Ramiz’s best golf continued after his time at UC Irvine. In 2022, he won both the Los Angeles City Men’s Championship and the Los Angeles City Match Play Championship—becoming the first player in golf history to win both in the same season. Since 2021, he has played 33 events with 17 top 5s, 20 top 10s, and 25 top 20s. Recent highlights include runner-up finishes at the 2025 Long Beach Amateur, 2025 SCGA Pub Links Championship, 2025 National Links Trust Championship, 2025 US Amateur Qualifying, and a third-place finish at the 2024 SCGA Mid-Amateur Championship. He also qualified for the 2025 Long Beach Open, shooting -5 (67) to secure a spot in the championship as an amateur. In 2025, he played in the first stage of DP World Tour Q-School in Newbury, England and was selected to represent Southern California (SCGA) for the 2025 California Amateur Cup in Rancho Mirage, California.
As a player with plenty of success in today’s game, Ramiz spends much of his time working on his game at Meadowlark Golf Club, and plays nearly 150 rounds a year across the world. Built by Birdies grew out of his work with juniors and parents seeking guidance on skill development and college placement—and from time spent caddying at Shady Canyon. He noticed many talented players lacked the education on the steps needed to take to get to the next level. So many beautiful swings, but no direction on where to go! As a player who has had plenty of success, Ramiz now focuses on mentoring juniors and their families through Built by Birdies, helping players reach their highest potential on and off the course.
